(mono)town project
Victoria Donovan is Principal Investigator on the project (mono)town, which investigates the challenges of post-industrial transformation in the UK and Ukraine, innovating interdisciplinary solutions to bring about the diversification of local cultural economies and a critical re- appraisal of industrial history and heritage. It proposes a programme of targeted networking and capacity building activities, bringing together researchers from diverse disciplines (History, Modern Languages, Architecture, Urban Studies) and cultural sectors (academia, museum and heritage work, urban planning, creative entrepreneurship). The project is funded by the Scottish Funding Council Official Development Assistance Global Challenges Research Fund.

IZOLYATSIA
IZOLYATSIA is a non-profit, non-governmental platform for cultural initiatives, founded in 2010 on the site of a former insulation factory based in Donetsk. The foundation takes its name from the original manufacturer. In June 2014 the territory was seized by armed representatives of the self-proclaimed ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’. The foundation was forced to move to Kyiv. To this day, IZOLYATSIA remains focused on the Donbas. IZOLYATSIA aims to effect systemic change in Ukrainian society through the agency of cultural projects. The foundation is developing an institutional environment, which promotes networking between cultural agents and creates the necessary conditions for the emergence of new players. IZOLYATSIA orientates its activity toward the new Ukrainian generation that is involved in the creative and cultural sectors. IZOLYATSIA is a platform for research, discussion, and the presentation of substantiated socio- political problems at differing scales of the local and global context. Through artistic practice, the foundation aims to change public opinion on politically sensitive themes and marginalised communities. IZOLYATSIA realises projects that lie on the boundary between modern art and civil society, and works in the following areas: research, site-specific projects, exhibitions, and residencies. www.izolyatsia.org
Donbas Studies
Donbas Studies is an interdisciplinary research project initiated by IZOLYATSIA, which aims to consolidate an expert community around the issue of the Donbas region. The platform of Donbas Studies serves as a resource center for a comprehensive discussion concerning the region of Ukraine with an involvement of experts from various fields of knowledge. The project incorporates research, a public programme and a library.

Plus/Minus Art Residency
Plus/Minus art residency is a NGO registered in Sieverodonetsk in the end of 2017. The main focus of Plus/Minus is promotion of art and history of Luhansk region and beyond. Among the members of organisation are many like-minded people from Luhansk who are active in culture, art, history, anthropology, media, activism, education and human rights. The roots of Plus/Minus go back to contemporary art movements in Luhansk. Since October 2018 the residence is based in Shakhmatnoye building (Energetikov str 31-a), once a popular cafe with a rich history. At first, the building served as a bus station, then – a youth centre until it was turned into a cafe, which got closed 10 years ago.. In a bit more than a year of its existence Plus/Minus managed to organise more than 20 events and more than 10 projects about culture and history of Luhansk region, among which are ‘Donbas: family archive’, ‘Luganskteplovoz. Museum on wheels’, Labyrinth of Steps, Arrived, A Factory of Resistance, quest ‘Collect your own Sieverodonetsk’, etc.

Centre for Urban History of East Central Europe
Center for Urban History of East Central Europe in Lviv, Ukraine is an institution for research and public history. Its special focus is on urban dimension in history, multicultural past, difficult and conflicting issues in the past, including wars and urban recoveries, socialist heritage and legacies, and public history in the city. The Center conducts research, organizes public lectures, seminars, scholalrly residencies, conferences, exhibitions, summer schools and city walks, and has a rich multimedia archive accessible from the web-site www.lvivcenter.org.ua and library.
Centre for Russian, Soviet, Central and East European Studies (CRSCEES), University of St Andrews
The Centre for Russian, Soviet, Central and East European Studies at St Andrews was founded in 1990. Its aim is to promote Russian, post- Soviet and Eastern European research and teaching by bringing together members of staff from various departments across the university who share interests in this field. The Centre sponsors visiting speakers, runs informal colloquia and offers a package of taught postgraduate courses leading to higher degrees in Central and East European Studies.
