The goal of the Gender Research project launched as part of Donbas Studies is to activate the Ukrainian and international research environment around gender issues in industrial and post-industrial societies, as well as in war-torn societies by conducting appropriate research and public debates. In studying the history of the industrial Donbas region, an important area is gender research, in particular, the creation of so-called “soviet industrial type of man”. In describing the context of Donbas region (Donetsk and Luhansk) it is important to talk about gender as the political technology that was successfully used to form the desired special political and social environment.
